I have been working in the hair care industry for 6 years. I began my training at Montgomery Beauty School in September 1994, graduated in March 1996. I began working, in the spring of 1996, as an assistant at Fabulous Finishes Hair Salon in Silver Spring, Maryland. While working there, I helped train other assistants on how to analyze the client’s hair and scalp, shampooing and conditioning the hair. Prepped the clients for the hair stylist. I also assisted in hairstyling for the “Proud Lady Hair styling Competition” in Washington, D.C. I helped teach a class in New York for the IBS Hair Show with Miki Wright (owner of Fabulous Finishes), on different hair styles. It was through these and other experiences, that I learned what it means to be a part of a hair styling team. I have also had advance training in different hairstyling techniques, including cutting, coloring, and styling different lengths of hair. I became a hair stylist at Fabulous Finishes in 1998. I left in August 2001, opting to go into business for myself at Portraits of Beauty Hair Salon. Since then my work has been featured in “Smooth Magazine”, and will be featured in one of the publications under Hair Web.com. At Portraits of Beauty Hair Salon, I specialize in hair care, and soft flowing hairstyles. I work with natural hair (press and curl), chemically treated hair, children’s hair, and hair of all lengths and textures. I use Avlon (Keracare) and Design Essentials products.
